Freudian Slip?

I am sure this would make the Cardigans happy. I have decided to insert "so-called" into my story, like Itar-Tass does in every story about Estonia, so as to call into question the validity of comments following my "so-called." Let me know if it works:

Swedish flag accidentally hoisted above Estonian castle

Jan 15, 2007
TBT staff

TALLINN - Caretakers of a medieval citadel in Rakvere, northeast Estonia, were left embarrassed after the Swedish flag was hoisted above the castle tower instead of Estonia’s national strip on Jan. 12.

The [so-called] mistake was noticed by outside observers, who quickly called the operators of the Rakvere castle museum to alert them of the apparent invasion.

The [so-called] error came about due to an apparent similarity between the Swedish flag and the flag of Rakvere city, which has a similar design.

To mark the anniversary of Rakvere’s liberation in the 1918-1920 War of Independence, the city’s flag was to be hoisted above the castle.

The [so-called]error was "corrected" in a matter of hours.

You may have heard about it ....

There has always been a plan C for Estonia:

a) declare a state of war against Sweden and

b) surrender immediately

Sorry to be off the subject, but I just heard the BBC news broadcast concerning the squable about the Hero monument in Tallin.

The Russian take on it is absolutely amazing. They came across as the injured party who's men liberated Estonia from the Germans and now the ungreatful Estonian Nazi bastards are slinging mud on the hole nation of Russia.

Maybe they did liberate Estonians from the Germans, but it just too bad that they forgot to go home right after the liberation.

OK, about the Sherman issue, an opinion from an Estonian. I couldn't post it elsewhere. would somebody send it to the Dems?

"making geopolitical concessions to Russia" sounds really scary in ears of an Estonian, which I am. Well, at least I know now how trustworthy and thankful some politicians of our greatest ally are. Haven't you learned anything from Soviet history? You can sell the Baltics, Moldova and Georgia to Russia again - and get nothing in return, again. A guy that calls himself a democrat would do better if he did support the democracy - instead of helping to rebuild an empire. But do whatever you will - the West has given us away once, we wouldn't be that much surprised anyway. But stop calling yourself democrats, if you have any feeling of shame left.

I took that issue up on Daily Kos, which is an influential liberal blog here in the US. Politically I identify as a Democrat, though I oddly find myself agreeing with Pat Buchanan when I see him on TV. Anyway, you can read my post at Daily Kos at the following link:
